Michele Locatelli

Art Director and designer with 20 years of experience in the fast-paced, high-pressured, deadline-sensitive environment of design. From opera promotions to elementary textbook design, small agency to large institution, I possess extensive design experience for the challenges new design projects bring. Art direction and lead designer for the design and execution of promotional pieces, posters, invitation materials and collateral for events, lectures, and campus-wide activities. Work closely with writers, project managers, campus partners and internal teams to coordinate on campaigns and events. Hands-on design, production, and photo manipulation. Oversee production and resources, print buying, supervise design contractors, and manage vendor relationships.

Lead designer for all departments within Seattle Opera’s organization. Art direction, design, and production of seasonal brochures, posters, collateral materials, promotions and advertising. Worked closely with writers, project managers, and general director on projects through promotional and thematic conceptualizing, design, and final execution. Commissioned and art directed original fine art for promotion of opera seasons. Coordinated production and resources, managed and supervised design contractors, and oversaw vendor relationships.

Designer and project manager for the book Theo Kalomirakis’ Private Theaters. Coordinated project with the author, editors, photographer,pre-press house, and distributor. Maintained the production schedule throughout all design phases. Contributing designer for the magazine Entertainment@Home. Conceptualized and designed creative presentations for promotion of the magazine Portable Computing. Designed collateral and promotional materials for the many publications of CurtCo Media Group.

Design and production of four-color educational textbooks and ancillaries for the elementary and high school levels. Worked within a team of designers to produce multi-level educational programs. Responsibilities included thematic concepting and prototype design for focus testing materials, art direction and design, large scale pre-press review, and press checks.
